Ruiz, Sijercic Score Two Goals Apiece

NEWARK, N.J. – Hartwick College sophomore Eldin Sijercic (Houston, TX) had two goals an an assist as the Hawks, the No. 18-ranked team in the nation, defeated host New Jersey Institute of Technology, 5-0, in Atlantic Soccer Conference action Wednesday evening at Lubetkin Field.

Senior Edwin Ruiz (Miami, FL) scored on the game’s first shot, assisted by Sijercic, to give Hartwick (10-2-3) the lead two minutes, nine seconds, into the contest. Chris Jackson’s (Manchester, England) tally in the 21st minute provided a 2-0 halftime edge.

Ruiz, the ASC’s scoring leader, also finished with two goals for the Hawks. Goalkeeper Josh Wagenaar (Grimsby, Ontario) played 80 minutes before sharing the shutout with Ryan Cruise (Ormskirk, England) . They had one save apiece

Ryan Sutherland (Harrisville, RI) made eight saves for the Highlanders (0-13).
