Late Goal Sinks NJIT Men in First League Game

ONEONTA, N.Y. -- The Oneonta State University men's soccer team scored with exactly eight minutes remaining in regulation to pull out a 2-1 Atlantic Soccer Conference victory over visiting NJIT on Saturday afternoon.

Both Oneonta goals were scored by freshman Daniel Stevens. After a scoreless first half, Stevens redirected a cross into the net in the 47th minute.The Highlanders (0-6, 0-1) were able to tie the match when freshman Eddie Romero pushed a loose ball into the back of the goal at 68:10.

On the eventual game-winner, a ball was touched backward to Stevens, who blasted a shot past NJIT's Ryan Sutherland into the right corner of the goal. Sutherland had five saves on the day.

Saturday marked the first-ever Atlantic Soccer Conference match for the Highlanders.
